las vegas sports books wonder why they get no respect?

did i hear right? some LV books actually took down the washington/toronto game? i guess they couldnt circle the game since their limits are so low as it is. but if they asked me i would have told them bondra was out and jagr was a go. and if they cant figure out how to make a number, here goes: make a line with jagr in, say toronto -.5 +20; then make a line with jagr out, say toronto -.5+10. cut it in half and post toronto -.5 +15. and if they are still worried about getting beat (remember those high limits?) just remind a supervisor to do his job and keep an eye on the betting...ooops, i crossed the line again, forgetting that most sports book supervisors now are just glorified schedule makers. unless of course ive misinterpreted all the responses (read: blank stares) ive gotten over the years whenver ive asked them questions. and i especially love it when books with high straddles or 30 cents lines take down a game - yeah, theyve got a clue.

Wow, calm down there Bobby. It's not the end of the world, Vegas is full of pussies who don't want our action anyway.

By the way, did you take me off your mailing list? I only ever received a couple of emails from you, the night we talked about the NYR/Cal game. Thanks.

Bobby, the reason for this is simple. Greg Gilbert is on his way out according to Eric Francis, a local beat reporter here in Calgary. There is now a goaltending crisis, Turek is far superior fundementally and with a a4 year / $19 million deal it's hard to bench him, but the fact is that McLennan is playing like a certain former Czech and Sabre goalie. So there is a little bit of an uncertainty over who will start. Now, I was talking with Peter Marr, the voice of the Flames, this morning and he told me that Gilbert had the players on the ice at 6am this morning. He did this right when he took over this job from Don Hay, and it produced results. The Flames started 13-2-2-2 last year and had 14 more points this time last year than they do now. Reason being, when he took over he stipulated that if the team lost, it was 6 am practices until we won again. Now, if the price is +145 I think it will move, look for a closing line of +155 or even +160 if I'm lucky. Now, the Flames are a good road team and after the embarrasing performance last night, they will be looking to rebound. Calgary is the value play here IMO.
